A little girl is kidnapped in the middle of a birthday party. Sia’s distraught parents, Dr Avinash Sabarwal (Abhishek Bachchan) and Abha (Nithya Menen), start losing hope as the police fruitlessly flail about and time passes by. And then one day, a menacing voice on a tab which comes in a typical parcel announces that to get her back there will be a drastic quid pro quo, involving other lives.

This is the trailer of Breathe: Into the shadows in case you are not aware about the show :

One situation to another, expected twists and turns seem unworthy of the long wait since there’s nothing extraordinary in terms of performances happening in the meantime. Even with medium format episodes (40- 45 mins) and a meaty premise, the writers have struggled to uplift the situations and the series verges on uninspiring and bland. The main villain looks daunting, but only when the camera goes low-angle and little shadow play happens in the ‘den’. His portrayal makes borderline mockery of negative and twisted characters.

Simply slapping a sinister-sounding suffix to the title, and stunt casting Abhishek Bachchan does not erase memories of season one, which was, to be clear, the most bizarre show of 2018. Season two is just as ridiculous because The kidnapper, perhaps having recently watched David Fincher’s Se7en, tells Avinash that in order to rescue Siya, he must kill random people who, according to the kidnapper, are guilty of exhibiting ‘sins’ such as lust and anger. “Krodh ki aag jo apne andar paale wohi aag usse bhasm kar daale,” says the kidnapper, not so much channelling Andrew Kevin Walker as fully turning into Milap Milan Zaveri
