Veteran actor and ace comedian Jagdeep left for his heavenly abode yesterday on July 8 owing to age-related issues. He was 81. His son Jaaved Jaaferi and his family were recently spotted in the city making arrangements for the iconic actor’s last rites.

No soon did the sad news of his demise broke out, Bollywood celebs like Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Adnan Sami, Riteish Deshmukh and others took to their social media handles to express their shock and condolences to the family of the bereaved.
Jagdeep was popularly known for his iconic role of ‘Soorma Bhopali’ in Ramesh Sippy’s ‘Sholay’ which starred Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Jaya Bachchan and others in lead roles. He also played the role of Salman Khan’s father in ‘Andaaz Apna Apna’ which starred Aamir Khan, Raveena Tandon, and Karisma Kapoor in key roles.
The veteran actor, who started his career as a child artiste in BR Chopra’s 1951 release, ‘Afsana’, starring Ashok Kumar, Veena and Pran, featured in more than 400 films. He had films like Do Bigha Zamin’, ‘Aar-Paar’, ‘Nagina’, ‘Afsana’, ‘Parwana’, ‘Gora Aur Kala’ and many others to his credit. His comic role in the film was widely appreciated.
